Abstract:
This paper evaluates the economic and reliability effects of line maintenance on generation and transmission expansion planning (GTEP), considering line loading and repair. The aim is to make a balance among the expansion and operation costs, generation and transmission system reliability, lines loading, and maintenance and repair cost of transmission lines. For this purpose, the reliability of the transmission system is modeled by load shedding due to line outages, and generation system reliability is calculated using the loss of load and load shedding criteria due to generating unit outages and transmission congestion. The proposed model is tested on the IEEE eliabilityTest System (RTS), followed by a discussion of the results.
