Impact of pedestrians, barriers and safety on traffic quality (Case study: Mashhad and Ghaemshahr cities in Iran)

Pedestrian attention is important as a road user group because they are the most vulnerable to accidents.Pedestrians have higher accident rates and higher death rates than any other group.The extent to which pedestrians behavior leads to these accidents is only comprehensibly understood by studying their behaviorand through these findings; efforts are being made to improve pedestrian safety.In this paper, we try to examine the two cities of Mashhad and Qaemshahr as large and small cities and by using chi-square test to compare the two cities and secondly to examine the dependence or independence of the existing variables.Therefore, this article attempts to identify the factors affecting pedestrian safety as well as ways to improve the safety of this group of road users by examining pedestrian traffic accidents as the most vulnerable group of road users.
