Abstract:

Background: postpartum services is one of the most important factors in preventing and detecting adverse maternal outcomes. Examination at home can have exclusive advantages for mother. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of postpartum home care on mothers’health.Methods: This clinical trial study was conducted at the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in 2016. Samples (62 mothers) were studied in two experimental and control groups. A researcher-designed questionnaire was prepared and its validity and reliability were assessed. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical methods and using SPSS version 18.Results: Results showed there was no significant difference between both groups in the demographic characteristics. revealed After the intervention average scores of to the physical health infection (p =0.029) and pain and swelling at the site of sutures (p = 0.021) and common complaints of women about the existence of pain (in the abdomen, sutures, legs, thighs, breast and teeth) (p =0.026) showed a significant difference between the intervention and the control groups. The average score of knowledge about the correct pattern of breast feeding (p=0.02) and satisfaction of health care team performance (p<0.001) in the experimental group were significantly more than the control group.Conclusions: Providing postpartum care services at home increases the health of mothers to reduce the incidence of pain in abdomen, legs, thighs, breast, teeth and episiotomy. However, further studies are needed on other variables. The intervention also improved the breastfeeding process and increased maternal satisfaction
