Abstract:

Background:Maternity is a potentially traumatic event in women s lives and can cause severe emotions and excitements, which in some women create stress disorder and can psychologically put them at risk for posing postpartum mental problems, The aim of this study was to determine the epidemiologic pattern of post-traumatic stress disord after delivery. Methods: This systematic review was conducted by searching on Google scholar, magiran, Sid, PubMed, iranmedex and elmnet with keywords post traumatic stress disorder, traumatic delivery, delivery stress and prevalence in Persian and English during 1990-2018. In this study, 18 descriptive and analytical articles have been used. Results: The results of this study showed that between 37% and 54.4% of women experienced labor as a traumatic event, and 21.2% of them suffered post-traumatic stress disorder after delivery. Up to 8.9% of the mothers of the preterm group and 2.3% of the mothers of the term group, Between 2.3 to 2.8 from the fathers of the term group and up to 1.6 fathers of the preterm group, had postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder. There was a significant relationship between midwifery factors such as infant nutrition, neonatal care problems, birth weight and psychological factors including stressful life events and the rate of maternal social support with post-traumatic stress disorder. Conclusion: Considering the high prevalence of postpartum stress disorder and the significant relationship between midwifery, neonatal, and psychological variables, as well as social support with post-traumatic stress disorder, it is evident that this requires targeted interventions to reduce this disorder. Including counseling provided by the midwife to women who have experienced a traumatic delivery
