Abstract:

Background: Obesity, overweight, and low physical activity are some of the health hazards and risk factors of many diseases, Coping with them requires information about their prevalence and risk factors. However, an accurate estimate of the rate of obesity in women with an emphasis on physical activity and nutrition patterns has not been reported yet.The purpose of this study was assessing Pattern of nutrition, physical activity level and body mass index in Middle aged women in Bushehr Province-2017 Methods: This study was conducted on women age 30-60 years in Bushehr province in 1396. Anthropometric, nutrition patterns and physical activity questionnaires were reviewed in Electronic Health Record of 50,385 women. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The results showed that the rate of obesity, overweight and underweight was 30.7% (16075), 41.5% (20989), 1.3% (648) respectively and 50.7% (18324) had abdominal obesity. Inappropriate nutrition pattern in dairy, vegetable and fruit was found in 20.7% (10472), 9% (4539) and 8.6% (4362) of the women. Inappropriate nutrition pattern was seen in the consumption of carbonated beverages, fast food, and sausage 12.1% (6107), oil 6.6% (3317) and salt 7.6% (3870). 63% (31886) of participants had undesirable physical activity. There was a significant inverse association between BMI and physical activity level. Conclusion: Regarding the high prevalence of obesity among middle-aged women in Bushehr province and the impact of economic and social components on health, the Comprehensive support of managers in planning for lifestyle modification and providing the necessary facilities plays an important role in solving the problem and promoting women s health.
