خلاصه مقاله:
Background and Aim : In traditional IVF, several embryos are placed in the uterus to increase pregnancyrates.Transferring only one blastocyst is recommended to avoid this problem, but in low to middle incomecountries, facilities for blastocyst culture do not exist due to poorer quality control in IVF laboratories.Aim: Hence, the aim of the present study was to investigate the Relationship between Number of EmbryosTransferred with Outcome Pregnancy. Methods : A retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out on infertile women undergoing 591 IVFcycles that resulted in 212 pregnancies and 120 multiple pregnancies during 2011-2016.Results : Multiple pregnancy included 52 twin (43.3%) and 15 triplet pregnancies (12.5%), which finallyled to only 18 (15%) twin and 2 (1.7%) triple births. Moreover, 63 participants (52.5%) lost their additionalembryos in utero throughout the pregnancy. No significant difference was observed between number ofoocytes and number of transferred embryos with type of delivery and pregnancy outcome, but, Significantdifferences were found between number of oocytes recovery and twin pregnancy rates (P=0.01)Conclusion : IVF had led to multiple pregnancies, but it did not always result in multiple births, becausemultiple factors such as abortion during pregnancy and probably poor laboratory conditions in lowresources countries result in loss of one or all of the embryos. Transfer of one to three macroscopicallygood quality embryos in utero is a reasonable option and does not increase considerably multiple births andpreterm babies in such settings as compared to developed countries with advanced laboratory conditions.
