Mankind were but a single community then they differed. (Yunus/19) Thisis a picture of human community and behind this there is a compulsory life.Although people were created in equal appearance and all of them have fleshand skin as well as blood, apart from these, there is difference in their beliefs,and consequently in their lifestyle. How should we tolerate such differenceswith less quarrel Can we find a paradigm for coexistence in Imam Reza’slifestyle What are the main criteria in Razavi paradigm This attitude isobserved in Imam Reza’s life especially when he lived in Marv beside peoplewho had various religions and sects. Imam Reza’s words and acts as well ashis moments of silence give us a paradigm for coexistence. Mamon as theCaliph was a sever hostile to Imam (a.s.) whereas Imam had adopted apeaceful attitude in his coexistence with him. There are some principles inImam’s life which can function as a model of coexistence for the adherents ofdifferent religions. These principles include: avoiding war, dialogue on thebasis of debate and no conflict (debate with its conditions), being carefulabout economic justice and wisdom, knowledge, and forgiveness.This essay tries to explain these principles paying attention to ImamReza’s Hadith as well as the Quranic verses.
