خلاصه مقاله:
It is well documented that the major cause of deterioration of coastal reinforced concrete structure is the chloride-induced corrosion. Therefore, durability based design of concretestructures in marine areas has gained great significance in recent decades. In spite of comprehensive researches on the corrosion of reinforced concrete, there are still variouscontroversial concepts. Effect of environment characteristics on the durability of concreteconstructions is one of the most important issues. Hence, regional investigations are necessary for durability-based design [1], [2].Persian Gulf is one of the most aggressive regions of the world because of elevated temperature and humidity and high content of chloride ions in seawater. In addition to harsh environment, construction of numerous costly infrastructures indicates the necessity of study on the effect ofchloride penetration on durability of RC structures located in this region. In the present study, for applying in Persian Gulf environment, a probabilistic service-lifeprediction model proposed by FIB is studied using chloride profiles obtained from 6 month and 5 year age concretes. The probabilistic studies were performed based on Monte Carlo simulation analysis [3].
