Background and Aim : vitamin D refers plays a crucial role in regulating the calcium homeostasis in the body. There were the studies on the correlation between serum vitamin D and male reproduction. It was indicated there were expression of vitamin D receptors in human leydig cells, seminiferous tubules, and the epididymis and also the expression of vitamin d mRNA in the head and neck of sperm. This review discuss about the effects of level serum vitamin D on sperm parameters in patients with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia(OAT)Methods : This article result of a systematic review about the effects of level serum vitamin D on sperm parameters in patients with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia. Results:Results : The studies showed that level serum vitamin D deficiency in patient with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia(OAT) had more than those with vitamin D sufficiency. These patients had poor semen parameters such as sperm concentration, sperm motility, sperm viability . Moreover; vitamin D is an important role in maturation of sperm. It increases sperm acrosome reaction which leads to enhance fertilization ability in the female reproductive system. It was shown that there was a relationship between levels of profile of sex hormones and deficiency level serum vitaminD in patients with OAT. Also Cyp24a1 expression a significantly decrease in these patients.Conclusion : : As a result, it has been shown that decreases in vitamin d levels impact on infertility which results in poor sperm parameters. Therefore, it may be necessary to consider examining the level of vitamin d when following patients with OAT.
