The studies conducted in recent decades on the effects of attachment-based relationships and the wayof training caregivers and its effects have shown that parenting style and the quality of parent-childrelationship has a significant role in the formation of anxiety in children. The purpose of this study isinvestigating the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral training of mother-child relationship on reducingobsessive-compulsive symptoms in children. In an experimental clinical study, available samplingmethod was used to collect 30 mothers whose children had been diagnosed to have obsessivecompulsivedisorder based on DSM-IV-TR criteria, as sample. Then, they were randomly assigned toan experimental group which received intervention and cognitive-behavioral training on mother-childrelationship without the presence of their children in 12 two-hour sessions and a control group whichreceived no intervention. Yale-Brown scale was used before the course, after completing the course, and 30 days later in both groups in order to compare the results. The collected data were thenanalyzed by using SPSS 20 software and the analysis of variance with repeated measures. Theexperimental and control groups were significantly different in their pretest, posttest, and follow upscores, which means oppressive-compulsive thoughts and actions of the experimental group reducedin terms of time, interference, resistance, and control. cognitive-behavioral training on mother-childrelationship has been effective in reducing the symptoms of obsessive behavior in children.
