The Assessment of Image Quality Based on Spectator Viewpoint

The quality assessment of image is highly correlated to spectators’ perception and viewpoint. In this study, the images quality and resolution were assessed using two levels full factorial design with center points during photography. Hence, the linguistic verbs method was used to transpose the spectators’ qualitative opinion into the quantitative numeric order. Furthermore, Delphi is the other method which was used for converging data and increasing the certainty of each spectator’s opinion. The investigated factors were sharpness, contrast, color saturation and color tone. The experimental results indicate that the proposed regression models could adequately describe the assessment indicators within the limits of the factors that are being investigated. The sharpness is the most significant factor that influences the image quality.
