Abstract:

The oxidation of thioethers mustard including the 2-chloroethyl ethylsulfide (2-CEES), dibutyl sulfide (DBS) as Chemical Weapons Agents (CWAs) analogs with a green method in presence [AsIII12CeIII16(H2O)36W148O524]76) W148-Polyoxotungstate was investigated. Nano-polyoxotungstate are a new class of polyoxometalates which commonly known as Giant . The catalyst characterized by different techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, TGA, TEM and SEM. We used for the first time from this catalyst as selective and recoverable catalysts for the oxidation of the chemical warfare agent stimulant 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide and other analogs using H2O2 as the oxidant. It was observed that the catalyst shows the highest catalytic activity on oxidation of thioether mustard (HD) analogs with water. Influence of various reaction parameters on the oxidation reaction was studied. The catalyst was reused up to 5 times without observable loss of activity and selectivity (According to the results of the FT-IR and XRD). Finallyplausible mechanism for the oxidation thioethers mustard is discussed.
