Abstract:

Tetrasubstituted imidazole scaffold is a crucial piece of many bioactive compounds [1], conjugated and fluorescent substances, and metal-coordinating ligands. Mixing of 1,2-diketones, aryl aldehydes, and the amine is one of the most popular synthetic tools for the formation of 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles (figure1) [2].Therefore, a mild, multi-component, one-pot process has been described for the synthesis of polysubstituted imidazoles in the presence of modified/functionalized magnetically recyclable and separable catalyst as a heterogeneous catalyst by the cyclo-condensation of benzil, aromatic aldehyde, ammonium acetate under a green protocol. The preparation of this method has many advantages in comparison to those methods which are previously stated in the literature [3].
