Abstract:

Due to indole structure ubiquity in nature and its broad application in chemistry, indole derivatives are valuableheterocycles. Owing to the great structural diversity of biologically active indoles, it is not surprising that theindole ring system has become an important structural component in many pharmaceutical agents. Numerousmethods have been developed for the synthesis of indole derivatives and more efficient straightforwardsynthetic strategies still continue to be pursued. In this review, an overview of the synthesis of indoles throughmetal catalyzed reactions was provided. A comparative account of various reaction pathways like one-potsynthesis (Multicomponent reaction) and the multistep reaction of indoles are discussed.
