Abstract:

Introduction: In recent decades, exposure to magnetic fields originating from power linesand electronic devices has been associated with different diseases. In the past 2 decades, concerns have been raised among the public and scientific communities about the potentialharms of magnetic fields at frequencies lower than 300 Hz. International Agency forResearch on Cancer considers low frequency magnetic as carcinogenic factor in biologicalsystems .There is evident that changes in energy levels can affect the production andrecombination of free radicals. In recent years, efforts have been made to reduce the potentialdamage of electromagnetic fields and radiations. In this study, based on the teachings of Iranian medicine for more than 1,000 years in theprevention and treatment of diseases, evidence-based texts and scientific work and researchby thousands of great scientists and physicians have been used to find ways to protect againstelectromagnetic waves. Methods and Materials: The contents of Iranian traditional medicine (ITM) textbooks suchas Canon of Medicine by Avicenna, Zakhire Kharazmshahi by Jurjani, and MAKHZAN ALADVIYEHby Aqili was studied about magnet and its decrease magnet power. In addition, new articles are reviewed as well to be able to compare modern and traditional treatments. Results: Magnets in Iranian medicine are referred to as meghnatis , which despite effectiveactions and medical properties, have been suggested as effective ways to reduce theirstrength. Olive oil and garlic are among the things mentioned in ITM to reduce the magneticstrength of magnets. According to recent studies, the use of garlic has been effective inreducing the effects of electromagnetic waves.Discussion and Conclusion: New studies confirm the efficacy of garlic to protectelectromagnetic waves. Therefore, further studies are recommended to evaluate the protectiveeffects of olive oil and garlic against electromagnetic waves. In addition, the preparation of amedicinal product for the protection against radiation is recommended.
