Abstract:
Due to drought in most of the countries in recent years, the protection and controlling of water resources have a particular importance. The protection of water resources could be done in two cases including water quality and water quantity protections. Any of these cases has its own importance in the water resources management. Lake Koycegiz is an important water resources at the west south of Turkey, which has complex conditions. In this research, the distribution pattern of suspended sediment from rivers at the surface of the Lake Koycegiz, in an unexpected event, is investigated. Three scenarios were modeled for the aim of evaluating and investigating the surface suspended sediment distribution pattern in the lake, in an unexpected flood event, using FLOW 3D. According to these simulations, the flood was happened in only Namnam river, only Kargicak river and finally, in both of Namnam and Kargicak rivers, simultaneously. These scenarios were studied for lake and rivers conditions in October, November and December months, because of the existence of data in these months. The results of these simulations are compared and discussed, finally.
