Abstract:

The study attempts to undertake an analysis of difficulties faced by students in learning prepositions. The very first section of the study will introduce the prepositions, then use of prepositions namely in, on and at will be discussed. After complete introduction, the researcher will go after the difficulties faced by students and EFL learners. The section also will review related studies. Finally conclusion will be raised. The present study has pedagogical implications in teaching English prepositions to ESL students. The results of this study are expected to assist teachers of EFL to be aware of the learners’ difficulties and weaknesses in the use of English prepositions. The present study provides some information about errors regarding the use of prepositions, and it is also expected to be a guideline to the English teachers as they can improve their ways of teaching and also teachers can eliminate and minimize the learners’ difficulties. Furthermore, the present study can help teachers to give more priorities to teach the prepositions which are relatively more difficult than the others to learn, and need more emphasis, explanation and practice
