Abstract:

Iran is located in Alps-Himalaya belt, where plenty of destructive earthquakes occurred. In this paper, we chose a place centered by Shahr-e Kord because, in this area, there are some large dams. In order to calculate seismic hazard, firstly, earthquake catalogs collected from Iranian seismological center (IRSC) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and historical earthquakes of the region were excerpted from Ambraseys, Melville, & Falcon, (1982). Subsequently, we divided the region into three sources, and the seismicity parameters were evaluated by Z-map software for uniform catalog. In the next step, we took advantage of Kijko software, which can calculate seismicity parameters for selected sources. Afterward, we employed EZ-FRISK software for calculation of the probabilistic seismic hazard method for calculating of response spectrum. We concluded that structures with the period of 0.14 second at different returning periods experience the greatest spectral acceleration, and finally, we used deterministic seismic hazard analysis for a site located in Shahr-e Kord. Acceleration is computed by Ambraseys et al. (1992) equation for different active faults of the region, and the Main recent fault has the highest ability to generate peak ground acceleration (PGA) of 0.17g in Shahr-e Kord.
