Given the growing importance of ornamental fish to our country, the huge volumesof imports are reported. Most of the imports come from Southeast Asian countriesand unfortunately make some problems for Iranian ornamental fish producers andalso cause damage to the national economy. It is obvious that if we can improve theproduction efficiency of ornamental fish, besides supplying the Iranian consumers’needs, we can increase our exports to other countries. Since, Isfahan is the greatestornamental fish producer city in Iran, this study was designed to review and evaluatethe statue of Ornamental fish industry in Isfahan. A number of questionnaires wereprepared, and then, they were answered with the ornamental fish sellers andproducers, in all over the city. All data analyzed with excel software. The resultsshowed lack of proper condition for research, lack of proper education and promotionactivities, high cost of fish producing and aquarium accessories, lack of incentivemechanisms for ornamental fish producers, absence of governmental support forprivate R&D centers of ornamental fishes.
