Abstract:

Barracudas are belonged to the order Perciformes and the family Sphyraenidae beingmarine to and considered as market-friendly fishes. Considering the commercialvalue of these fishes, the vicinity of Iran to the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea,connection of this region to oceanic waters and the existence of these fishes in thisregion, the survey of Chabahar Gulf waters for exploration and dispersion of thisfamily were done in 5 stations for 2 years. The sampling was carried out using tensilehook, trawl and gillnet. The specimens were identified using valid keys andichthyology books. One genus and 4 species of the Barracuda family were identifiedin this region which the most dispersion belonged to the species of Sphyraena jellocuvier48T. During this study it was found that considering the 48Tidentified and existentspecies, we can take necessary actions for fishing, marketing and exploitation of thisresource in this and also increasing employment in the province.
