Abstract:

In this study a 673 bp 5’ end sequence of D-Loop in brown trout (Salmo trutta L.1758) from the Jajrood River was used. To compare, the haplotypes of other Iranianpopulations and other phylogenetic lineages such as Danubian (Da), Atlantic (At),Mediterranean (Me), Marmoratus (Ma), Adriatic (Ad), and Duero (Du), were used.Salmo ohridanus and S. salar were used as exotic groups. To reconstruct thedendrograms, Neibour Joining (NJ) method was used. On the reconstructeddendrogram, the Jajrood River brown trout along with other Iranian haplotypesnested in a cluster belonging to the Danubian lineage and the Aral Sea brown trout(S. trutta oxianus), and Danubian haplotypes distributed in other regions of its span, placed as the basal branches of Danubian cluster. Overall all the phylogenetic groupsof brown trout, nested in a monophyletic group. Salmo marmoratus, S. lentica, andS. platycephalus were also nested in S. trutta cluster. The lake Ohrid trout, S.ohridanus showed a high divergence from the brown trout. Finally it can beconcluded that the Jajrood River trout belongs to the Danubian lineage of brown troutand based on its high similarity to the other Iranian brown trout, the origin of thispopulation can be in the Caspian basin.
