Abstract:

Nowadays, due to the increasing rate of energy demands, energy generation with classical methods, do not supply all energy requirements. Therefore, investigation for high-efficiency energy resources with fewer environmental damages is essential. In the present study, a comparison between different electricity generating cycles and the reciprocating hydro-machine has been done from two perspectives including statics of energy resources and the amount of energies utilization. Therefore, some energy harvesting mechanisms, including the presented hydroelectric power plant are discussed from the aspects of: energy efficiency, exhausted emissions, and external costs. Meanwhile, the amount of possible extracted energy from rivers is presented and compared with usual classical methods in order to highlight the capabilities of the presented hydroelectric power plant in terms of efficiency and amount of the power generation. Also, external costs of the mentioned machine as an important factor have been compared with the conventional power plants. Comparisons show about 10 percent average of higher efficiency in RHM vs conventional hydro-electrical mechanisms. In addition, the external costs of RHM mechanism aren’t higher than other methods.
