Abstract:

In this paper, the effect of shadow on the Photovoltaic cell is studied experimentally. By calculating the voltage and current, the output power of the cell is calculated, which shows that with increasing shadows on the cell, although the changing amount of the output voltage of the cell is low, there is a sharp drop in output current, hence the power cell output was reduced about 75%. In another part of the experiment, the temperature distribution of the cell surface by thermal imaging was also investigated and then the thermal distribution of the cell due to increasing the shadow on it is observed. The results show that with increasing shade, the overall surface temperature increase due to increased shade resistance. In addition, it is shown that the portion of the cell which is under the shadows has a higher temperature than the other parts of the cell which are colder and it is observed that shadows make the distribution of the temperature more non-uniform.
