Abstract:
Reservoir managemnt is based on the proper and accurate understanding of reservoir behavior . The carbonate reservoirs in iran are extremely complex and their reservoir characterization is real challenge. This complexity leads to wide range of reservoir uncertainties in term of static and dynamic reservoir parameters, which affect the cumulative oil production Np and net present value NPV. the objective of this paper is to identify and quantify the uncertaninties associated with reservoir parameters in order to make the best decision about choosing the optimum scenario to manage the reservoir with respect to technical and economical criteria's. based on log interpretation of an iranian carbonate reservoir the appropriate distribution for the OOIP parameters are fitted. then , the uncertainly and the relative importance of parameters are evaluated by means of a monte carlo method simulation , where relevant properties are drawn from fitted distribution. the principal steps of risk assessment are selection of uncertain parameters and assign probability distribution to each of them , then indentification a model and critical attribute selection by sensityvity analysis.
