Abstract:
Central iran basin is one of the important hydrocarbon provices in iran. Oligo - miocene sediments (Qom formation ) as a main reservoir and source rock in central part of basin was divided to 11 members , but toward western part of basin most of these members wedged out and disappeared . for this reason a regional sequence stratigraphic model is presented for the miocene deposits in saveh takab region ( north - west of central iran. this model is based on both detailed sedimentological observations in outcrops and thin section study results and high resolution choronostratigraphic framework that constrained by nenthic and planktonic foraminifera . nine paleogeographic maps and depositional models are made for sequence stratigraphic surfaces. integration of paleogeographic maps and patterns of deep seated faults in the study area show paleohighs wich separate Qom basin to three sub basins with almost NW-SE direction , that controlled by wrench faulting and influenced the evolution of the local basins.
