Abstract:

Recently due to advantages of ANG method for gas storage and delevery , a special attention was paid to the utilization of carbon nanotubes as an efficient adsorbent because of its unique characteristics. In this study methane storage capacity of multi -walled carbon nanotubes MWCNTs and granular activated carbons GACs was investigated and compared through the equilibrium adsorption. an experimental apparatuds consist of a dual adsorption vessel was set up for the measurement of equilibrium adsorption of methane on adsorbents using volumetric technique pressure decay herin. experimental isotherm of methane adsorption was determined by the measurement of equilibrium uptake of methane in pressure range of 0-50 bar in different temperatures. the results showed and optimal up to 34wt% of methane storage capacity was achieved at temperature of 283.15 K and the pressure of 50 bar for MWCNTs that is much higher in comparison with GACs about 7wt% on the same operating conditions.
