Study of the Using Associated Gas as Feed of LNG and GTL Units in Iran

In spite of efforts to fight the problem, still huge amounts of associated gas about 40 million cubic meters are flared nationwide every day . Instead of such an economic waste, these associated gases can be harnessed to produce profit through several ways such as injection to oil reservoirs, GTL/LNG unit feed or raw feed for petrochemical industries. regarding the importance of the problem, particularly in terms of economics and its adverse impacts on the environment, this paper reviews current flaring of associated gas status in Iran and investigates the reasons for such a misuse. moreover the positive points and drawbacks concerning the use of the associated gases as feeds of GTL and LNG units in the world is discussed and in the end , considering the national conditions, each of these two alternatives is fully elaborated for application in Iran.
