Make-up feed water treatment and quality control in steam boiler system

every steam boiler system requres a proper boiler water treatment to ensure reliability , efficiency and long life boiler service. Make up water to boiler requires particular specification otherwise serious problems would take place in the boiler systems. major problems are carry over through boiler caustic embrittlement scale formation, corrosion in steam turbines and other steam consumer equipments such as heat exchangers. to avoid these problems certain characteristic in water -steam network need to be checked and adjusted regularly . alkalinity , O2 and CO2 contents , total dissolved solids TDS and conductivity are some important parameters . various compounds are consumed to adjust steam -water quality. this study describes water treatment for high pressure and medium pressure boilers in zagros petrochemical co. ZPC and compares treatment proficiency using different type of compounds.
