In this paper, the shear strength of the panel zone in joint of reinforced concrete column to steel beam (RCS) isinvestigated. In the proposed connection the steel beam is welded to the prefabricated column by steel plates inserted atthe edge of the column. In order to evaluate the maximum shear strength of the panel zone, the specimens weredesigned to cause failure in the joints. In the first sample there are continuity plates in the panel zone while in thesecond sample there is also a steel web panel of beam in the panel zone. Two samples were subjected to cyclic loadingup to 6.5% drift and their load displacement curves were extracted. Influence of the steel web panel on the strength andstiffness of the joint is evaluated. It is also cracking condition of the specimens at different loading levels is examined.By comparing the maximum strength capacity of the specimen with and without steel web panel, shear strength of steelweb panel was calculated.
