Blockchain Architecture: From Network Layer to Control Layer

The traditional database management system is mainly managed and maintained by a single institution. In thescenario of multi-party participant collaboration, because the data in the database cannot be fully trusted, each partyneeds to separately build a database that carries its own business data. Data differences will lead to tedious manualreconciliation and disputes, and blockchain can solve this trust problem between multiple parties. As a decentralized,non-tamperable, traceable, and jointly maintained distributed database, blockchain can establish reliable trust amongmultiple parties who do not understand each other. This paper investigates blockchain architecture and fully reviews itsdifferent layers such as network layer, data layer, consensus layer and control layer and highlights their differentaspects and research status.
