Abstract:

This paper explains a discrete model for building energy management system which is investigated in connected-grid state. This study attempts to provide an approach shift loads from on -peak time period to off-peak time period to support the power grid. A battery storage system is considered as an electrical backup system for the peak load time. Furthermore, the electrical consumption profile of home appliances used in the daytime is modeled. Loads are divided into four categories, uncontrollable, curtailable, interruptible, and uninterruptible loads. To minimize the electrical consumption cost and control charging and discharging the battery storage system a nonlinear model predictive control based on firefly algorithm is introduced. The results depict that the unified model and proposed strategy are performed successfully and the peak of electrical demand is eliminated appropriately.
