Abstract:

Prod uction from condensate gas reservoirs causes the pressure reduction to below the dew point pressure and consequently, condensates are generated in reservoirs. Dueto the simultaneous existence of gas and condensate liquid inside the reservoir, a dynamic condensate bank is formed that creates a complex behavior. The best methodfor analyzing this dynamic phenomenon is well testing. The conventional interpretation methods of well testing cannot correctly identify the characteristics of the condensate bank,because these methods calculate the average value of condensate bank properties at different zones. This study attempts to look at this issue from a new perspective. The idea is to use the wavelet transform as a signalprocessing tool to characterize well test responses. The application of this method is to estimate the condensate bank radius. Ourresults show that the implemented approach can effectively determine the regions of the condensate bank around the wellbore during a build-up test.
