Abstract:

Internet of thing (IoT)-based energy management systems (EMSs) are considered as a new technology in which consumers can manage their electricity payment according to their preferences such as lowering cost or increasing satisfaction. Each consumer has its own application to communicate with a central control unit. Furthermore, the central control unit who are responsible for energy pricing, can have access to both consumer information and network operation status via IoT infrastructures. So, some technical analysis can be done with the big data to determine the optimal pricing to meet a trade-off between consumers and distribution system operators objectives. Here, we present a model to evaluate the effect of pricing on IoT-based energy system behaviour in detailed manner. Then according to the load profile of each case and technical limitations of distribution network, the best time of use pricing are determined. The results show that the more price variance, the more consumer discomfort, and the lower daily payment. The paper can facilitate more penetration of IoT-based EMSs in Smart Grids.
