Abstract:

Introduction: For many years, the classical (traditional) methods for the sake of injection have been used. The first insulin pen was made in the 1980s. These types of pens are divided into two categories (analog, vial-human); analog insulins are similar to human insulins that in the molecular structure can lead to differences in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties. Investigation method: The present study is a systematic review that was conducted using databases of Web of Science PubMed, SID, Embase Scopus, and magi ran from the beginning of 2007 to June 2017. Related studies in the field of health technology assessment and economic assessment have been investigated. Results: The findings from the 20 studies completed in the final phase of the study indicated that there is no reason for the higher risks of rapid -acting insulin analog pens in comparison to the vials (human) insulin and analog insulin pens significantly reduces the risk of hypoglycemia. Therefore, due to the lack of cost-effectiveness, the insulin analog compared(ICER:642994$QALY),(ICER:130865 $ QALY),(ICER:87932$ QALY)to other existing insulins is not cost-effective, but due to the increased quality of life and increased satisfaction of patients comparing to vial insulin pens, this type of pen has been used. Some studies have shown that 30 Spart insulin pens are more cost-effective than other analogs ,(ICER: 22488$QALY).Conclusion: Although the use of analog insulin is expensive cost for diabetic patients, but its effectiveness rather than vial insulin , it is suggested to insurance orgnization that implement just for three vulnerable groups (i.e., seniors, children, and pregnant women).more considertion to analog insulin .
