Abstract:

Handicrafts and traditional arts are valuable heritage left as a legacy by the ancestors. Trying to benefit from these heritage and using them in manufacturing industries including the packaging industry in production of wicker products, is one of the ways of using this art/industry in the everyday lives. This research has tried to realize the idea of designing a novelty representation of leafy dried fruit of the Iran climate, in a way that the consumer can use the food product as well as benefit from the representation which ultimately is illustrated as a wicker cap. To attain this goal, the so-called Design up method (Tarrahi Nameh in Persian) as its design thinking strategy which uses interaction design approach is employed. Library and field research are applied using not also the cubic view and investigation of the professional samples, but for gathering data the survey method has considered. The users have been identified and prioritized and a query in the form of verbal non-verbal communication with users has designed and developed. The design criteria from the views of users have derived and different categories design have created. The top design has chosen among selected designs, and its modeling using Solidworks® software to create a functional, ergonomics as well as aesthetics sample has been generated. Using this novelty representation, one can create a positive competitive environment to generate new markets for the producers of leafy dried fruits and allow the orchardists instead of being defective part of quality of product to supply their products to the customers with added value. This creates double exposure of handmade products of the craftsmen for sales and therefore helps the household economy and make this art known. In addition, they can be used more profitably to prevent the supply or export of raw products.
