Abstract:

Optimization of concrete mixing design is one of the important concerns of researchers in this filed. So far, various conventional or novel methods have been developed to optimize and predict the effect of aggregate characteristics and enhance the properties of concrete mixtures. The strength and durability of concrete in many cases be subject to on variables such as mix ratio, aggregates properties and characteristics, coarse and fine aggregate ratio, compaction method, curing period, gradation, packaging density, wherein effect the strength and durability of fresh and hardened concrete. It is well accepted that the minimum volume of cement paste in the concrete mix is very desirable and as a result, achieving low shrinkage, reducing the heat of hydration, improving the strength and durability and lower costs. In this study, an attempt has been made to provide an appropriate way via the existing empirical methods like Fuller and Thompson maximum density and coarseness factor that, already had been used in asphalt pavement design. It is intended for a concrete paving mix to determine the C / F ratio consisting of coarse aggregates of 10, 20 and 38 mm and fine aggregates containing river and mine sand.
