Abstract:

In this experimental study, turbulence statistical parameters of two circular and square turbulent 3D jets (with Reynolds number equal to 13000) discharged into a Quiescent background have been investigated. The measurements were conducted using an acoustic Doppler velocimeter. The results show that the average velocity profiles in both circular and square jets are in good accordance with the results of other researches, indicating the accuracy of the ADV measuring device in obtaining the average velocity profile. The measured velocity profiles in the two circular and square jets are in good accordance with the values obtained from other measurement methods. Velocity measurements were performed on the jet axis at a distance of 35 cm from the jet outlet and also in the radial direction. The results show that the average velocities and RMS velocities measured in the circular and square jets are in good agreement with the values obtained from other measurement methods.
