خلاصه مقاله:
The main protocols in the transport layer are TCP and UDP. The TCP protocol provides reliable services on a connection-oriented basis whereas UDP, as a connection-less protocol, attempts to improve the data transmission rate. These days, as the number of requests sent to the internet rise up, risk of congestion increases leading to higher delay and jitter in the network. In this work, we examine the behavior of TCP and UDP protocols under congestion conditions to determine how they handle congestion and manage to improve the overall network performance for their end-users. The congestion occurs on the basis of varying the size of packets and also the transmission interval of the packets. The performance is obtained in terms of throughput, loss ratio, delay, and jitter measuring metrics using MATLAB R2019b simulator tool. The results interpreted that as TCP throughput and loss ratio is better than UDP while delay and jitter of UDP show better performance.
