Abstract:

Using an analytical-thermal-structural model and the results obtained from a case study, the effect of natural Pollozan replacement on rolled compacted concrete dam in terms of the increase of temperature and the control of crack effect in early ages have been investigated. In concrete dams, it is highly important to analyze the process of increasing temperature and controlling crack effect in concrete in early ages. As a result of these analyses, important decisions about parameters such as concrete mix design and additives usage, layers’ thickness and time interval of concreting stages, construction joints positioning, controlling the temperature of materials and using ice powder and other equipments. It is economically very important to select and optimize the mentioned parameters in an acceptable executive program in addition to technical aspect. In this regard, using Macro Programming in ANSYS environment, a software with all necessary capabilities for structural-thermal analysis modeling of mass concrete in early ages was provided. Also, using this software, the effect of various Pozzolan replacement percentages in concrete was investigated based on the criteria of temperature, stress, strain, and crack effect.
