خلاصه مقاله:
This article explores the omnipresence of ideology and repression in Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter. This undertaking can contribute to a better understanding of the ambiguity of events and characterization in the play, a feature that is recurrently seen in nearly most of Pinter’s plays. The present study argues that Ben and Gus, the central characters of The Dumb Waiter, are interpellated figures who are subjected to the domineering presence of an ideological figure called Wilson. Such exposure, it is shown, is predominantly manifested through the determinants of ideology and repression. In order to discuss the matter, the present study adopts Althusserian philosophy as the framework of discussion.
