Abstract:

This study is an attempt to reveal the key factors which may motivate or demotivate an English as a Foreign Language(EFL) teacher in doing action research (AR) in the second language classroom by taking the Actor Network Theory(ANT) approach. Using a case study methodology and gathering data through a semi-structured interview, the presentstudy conducted a thematic analysis to identify themes within the data and tried to make sense of them through thelenses of ANT. It was found that busy schedule and lack of support from the work place were the main factors involvedin not doing AR by the EFL teacher.
