Phytohormones are a group of chemically diverse molecules that control virtually all aspects of plantsdevelopment. The hormone played an Important role in the regulation of growth and germination. In this project theeffect of phytohormone IAA (Indole- 3- Acetic Acid) with different concentrations on essential Oil of Ocimumbasilicum L. leaves were evaluated.Leaves of O. basilicum L. treated under field condition were sprayed with IAA phytohormone separately incertain time in a weak. Then we collected the treated plant after a rest period and dried it in the dark and in the processof air. Afterwards, we weighted the dried plant and took its essential oil separately by Clevenger apparatus. Theessential oil content of the leaves was obtained by hydro distillation The Combinations of the essential oil was analyzedby GC/MS. 15 compound were identified in essential oil. Some detected compounds can be responsible for plantsbiological or toxic activities.Results indicate that IAA have significant effect on the concentration of essential oil many components wereincreased and some of them decrease. It seems a useful method for changing the concentration of the essential oilcompounds.
