Synthesis of novel unsaturated esters by Wittig reaction

There is no disputing the fact that wittig reaction has played a significant role not only in synthise of chemicalmaterials but also in drug discovery therefore it has been in the center of scientists attention . The preparation of noveldimethyl fumarate , maleate which are isomers of each other, and exploration of their synthetic pathways has receivedmuch interest in order to non-toxic and inexpensive materials, simple and clean work up, short reaction times, and goodyields of products are advantages of this method. The reaction between dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate and CH acids inthe presence of triphenylphosphine leads to unsaturated electrophilic compounds in fairly good yields at roomtemprature [1].The main activities of DMF are considered to be immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory drugs. Dimethylmaleate has also found use in applications where improvements in the hardness and toughness of polymer films aredesired. This includes, in particular, the improvement of anti-blocking properties of copolymers of vinyl acetate withDMM. It is also used as an internal modifier to increase the glass transition temperature of styrene or vinyl chloridepolymers.
