A Low-Area Ramp Generator for Single-Slope ADC

This paper presents a low-area ramp generator based on a switch-capacitor integrator. Ramp generators are one of the main blocks of single-slope ADCs. The proposed circuit is designed in a 0.18 μm CMOS technology as part of a single-slope ADC with a resolution of 10 bits. The ramp signal full-scale at the output can be more than 1 V at 2.5 V power supply and deviation of the step size of the generated ramp across the complete voltage range from ideal step size is below 7% at a 25 MHz clock frequency.
