Abstract:
In this project, storage tanks were designed to maintain industrial effluent in pH of 2-13 at a high temperature of 80 C, for Shahid Tondguyan petrochemical company. This metal structure is reinforced with a corrosion resistant composite coating by hand lay-up process on the inner surface of metal tank. The suitable design of composite coatings for high temperature applications is substantially facilitated by a thorough understanding of the thermal stress at coating/metal interface. So we considered thermal stress at the metal-composite interface by means of MATLAB. Strength properties of adhesively bonded composite coatings were also investigated according to ASTM D 3164. The result showed that the composite coatings have high shear strength with no twisting in the structure and are able to maintain industrial effluents at high temperatures.
