Abstract:

In this research the hot process of Al 2024 with T section profile by DEFORM 3D V6.1 are analysed and simulated. On the basis of simulation results, the profile is extruded by extrusion device with ram diameter equal to 5 inch. Metallography examination (microstructural investigation & grain size), tensile test, hardness test, chemical composition analyses of precipitation by EDAX and conductivity test has been performed on the extruded samples. On the basis of simulation results & metallurgical and mechanical test, extrusion process with this characterization: ram speed 5 mm/s, billet temperature 420̊ C, die temperature 380̊ C, effective strain 3.5 (mm/mm), strain rate 9.4 (mm/mm)/s were in optimum condition. In this condition produced samples were covered all of requirement of AMS-QQ-A-200/3 standard.
