Salinity is a serious problem of soil degradation, limiting agriculturalproductivity especially in arid and semiarid regions around the world. In order todetermine the performance of sugar beet breeding hybrids under salinity stress conditions and screening indicesof salinity tolerance, 28 sugar beet hybrids and two controls were tested in salinity and normal conditions inMian-Doab, Iran, in 2017. The experiment design was a randomized completeblock with three replicates under normal and stress conditions. Twelve salinity toleranceindices were calculated for various genotypes based on root and sugar yield underthe both stress and non-stress conditions. All hybrids have a higher average rootand sugar yield in normal conditions than salinity conditions. Hybrids 30, 11 and24 in normal conditions and hybrids 6, 13 and 25 in salinity condition were thehighest root yield. Hybrids 30, 11, 19 and 24 in normal conditions and hybrids 6,13 and 25 in salinity condition were highest root and sugar yield.
