Abstract:

Barium titanate is one of the most important perovskite- based ferroelectric materials that used in microelectronic devices. In this article, barium titanate was synthesized by sol-gel method and powders calcinated by microwave that reduced the time of calcination and energy consumption. In this study, the effects of Holmium and Manganese additives on microstructure and lattice parameter changing of barium titanate are as well as the effects of furnace and microwave heating in sintering stage on particle morphology and dielectric properties of the samples are discussed. The microstructure of the specimens was investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). X-ray diffraction analysis was used to investigate the formation of phases. The surface of the specimens was gold coated to measure their dielectric properties by precision LCR meter. The dielectric loss and dielectric constant decrease with increasing frequency, depends on the dipoles orientation in dielectric materials. Microwave samples compared to furnace have a higher dielectric constant and higher dielectric loss.
