Abstract:

The production of chicken meat and eggs in the country has experienced an upward trend over the past years. Chicken meat production has a chain of production factors. One of the most important production inputs of this industry is corn. Changes in input prices are one of the factors that cause the price of the final product of this industry to fluctuate. Given that a large part of our need for poultry industry inputs is met through imports and most of the protein needed by society is made available to consumers through chicken, considering the price effects of inputs Production and prices of chicken meat in the country are important. In this study, we have investigated the effects of imported corn prices and imported chicken meat prices on domestic meat prices in Iran. For this purpose, the vector autoregression model (VAR), with four variables and monthly data from 1393-1392 for Iran has been used. The results show that the price of domestic corn and the price of imported corn and the price of imported chicken meat have a significant effect on the price of domestically produced chicken meat. Also, the price of domestically produced chicken meat is directly related to the price of domestic corn, the price of imported corn and the price of imported chicken meat.
