خلاصه مقاله:
In this study, we aimed to investigate the efficacy of Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Ethylcellulose (EC) films as topical wound dressing systems for the sustained release of Erythromycin (EM). The drug loaded PVA and EC films were characterized by FTIR, and the obtained spectra showed a good dispersion of drug in the polymers without any chemical reaction. Additionally, mechanical specifications of the prepared formulations were investigated. It was shown that EC has better swelling behavior in comparison with PVA. The invitro release profiles of EM was recorded at ۲۵˚C. EM has shown initial burst release from both formulations, lasting ۲۲ and ۴۸ hours for PVA and EC based formulations, respectively. The results showed that EC has more extended drug release path, and proves to be an efficient drug carrier for EM.
